Caring for marble and natural stone after a renovation
Natural stone is beautiful and unforgiving. A few principles keep it looking the way it did on installation day.

Marble, limestone and travertine are calcium-based and react to acids. Many all-purpose cleaners, and even vinegar or lemon, can leave dull etch marks that cannot be wiped away.
After construction, grit is the other enemy. Dragging a cloth across stone that still holds fine particles can leave micro-scratches. Loose dust should be lifted first, then the surface cleaned with a pH-neutral product made for stone.
Ask your installer or fabricator whether your stone has been sealed, and when it should be sealed again. A sealed surface is far more forgiving of daily life.
