Inside our projects: opening a Hamptons home for the season
How we plan the clean of a large East End residence that has been closed all winter, building by building.
A home that has been closed for months collects a different kind of dust: fine, even and everywhere. Add a winter of contractor work, and opening day needs a real plan.
We start with a walkthrough alongside the house manager, noting finishes, any work completed over the winter and the date the family arrives. The main house, guest house and pool house are then scheduled as one project.
Crews work top to bottom in each building, finishing with glass, linens and a final walkthrough the day before arrival, so the home feels lived-in from the first evening.
